Conferences and Halloween

Hi folks,

It was great to see you all at conferences.  Thanks for all of the fruitful conversations.  This week we will continue our Pioneers unit(we are about halfway on the trail to Oregon), finish our read aloud, and continue our work with figurative language and parts of speech.  Also, ask your student what they volunteered for our class Halloween Party, hosted by Aliya and Ian.

 Halloween Skate Day 2016

Halloween is quickly creeping up on us and it’s time for all of the JCOS creatures of the night to gather at Skate City for our wicked all school skate day.  On Monday, October 31st, dressed in our most outrageous costumes, we will climb aboard the buses and be transported to the Skate City off of 121st for a monstrous time.

The cost is $8.00, which can be paid online through JeffcoConnect up until Friday, October 14th.  If, for some reason, you pay online and your child is absent the day of skate day, the money will be used to help pay for the all school end of the year picnic.  The $8.00 can also be turned in to your child’s advisor on Monday, Oct. 31st.  We’ll be picked up from school at 9:00 and dropped back off at 1:30.  Don’t forget to pack all the gooey and slimy things that you want to eat for lunch and bring your roller blades if you want to use them.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to wear your costumes, as long as it won’t get in the way of skating (no masks or costumes that hang down by your feet).  Don’t forget to bring your head, $8.00, your slimy lunch and your costume.  Parents, grandparents and siblings are welcome to join us if they dare, but must also pay $8.00.  Please call Rosie at #303-982-7056 if you have any questions.  Come dressed in your best and be ready to have a bone chilling good time.

                                                                                      Rosie and David

Directions:  Take Wadsworth South to 6thAve.  Get on 6th Ave. going East.  Get off 6th Ave. on to I-25 going North.  Take I-25 all the way to 120th.  Take a left on 120th, cross the bridge and turn right on Delaware.  Turn right on to 121st and follow to Skate City, which will be on the right side of the road.

Haunted House – Do you like to be scared?  If so, come on down to the gym and get ready to scream.  We will open the doors to the haunted house around 1:45 and will keep them open until 3:30 or until everyone is too scared to go through any more.

Conference Schedules Are Out

Hi Folks,

October is here and we are in the rhythm of the school year.  We have finished our small moment publishing, and have started our Pioneers unit in earnest.   Each student has taken on a pioneer persona, and has been writing diary entries from the perspective of this persona.  Wagon trains have also begun their journey to Oregon in search of a better life.  Ask you student about their pioneer experience.  We have also started a read aloud linked to our unit.  Mr. Tucket, by Gary Paulsen, is the story of a pioneer boy who gets separated from his wagon train and befriends a mountain man, Mr. Grimes.

Conference sign up folders are out!  Sign up for your student's conference on October 20th or 21st. Conference folders are on the tables outside the main office.
